What three words define your sound?
Unique, original, authentic, I never really think about that you just gotta hear it, it’s just a certain feeling and vibe.
Tell me something unique about your creative process.
I write before the studio or in the booth, it takes me one-three hours to record a song if it’s being punched in. I don’t cuss in my raps neither.
Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?
‘Yea Yea’.
What inspired you to make that song?
My birthday, I wanted to shoot a video at my party and I had to make sure the song was hard.
What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?
I was throwing up and having bad stomach problems due to eating something bad without eating anything after and was still in the studio everyday working.
What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?
My song restarted in the middle of me performing but it wasn’t embarrassing. Best moments are when the crowd sings my song with me.
What is your favourite song to perform?
Favourite song to perform is ‘Yea Yea’ or ‘Too many options’.
Which artist/song/album made you want to make music?
Nobody really, but if I had to say… it would be NBA Youngboy.
What’s the meaning behind your name?
‘Star’ is my first name ‘bandz’ comes from me liking money.
If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?
I would be playing a sport, have me a job and doing hair.
What’s success to you?
Success to me is growing as a person when you never really had role models to show you how to succeed in something you’re passionate about. I don’t know anybody personally who chased their dream and went somewhere with it.
What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?
Like I said in the last question, just seeing nobody make it out or chase their dream makes me go 10 times harder.
