Superhuman powers and the significance of being a real-life superhero is a thought that’s entertained by millions of people. This Fall season there is one designer that’s bringing these dreams to life and is dressing you fit to be your own Batman with a brand new collaboration with none other than the illustrious storytellers of DC Comics to celebrate the Dark Knight’s 80th anniversary.
In commemoration to this, British Fashion designer and Artist Marc Jacques Burton stands with Batman & DC Comics as they continue to leave Batmans mark in every form of entertainment imaginable, by appearing in countless comics, animation, television, films, video games, toys and other products. For 80 years, the Dark Knight has stood as a symbol of determination, bravery and justice to generations of fans and remains the single most popular superhero, humanity’s timeless hero and he’s just getting started.
Seamlessly bonding over their love for design, imagination & creation, MJB & DC Comics partner together to have designed a limited-edition capsule, MJB infiltrated some of the most iconic comic book illustrations into the collection. Made in Italy and featuring renditions of MJB’s iconic & signature balaclava and double hoodie, the magical collection features four of these heroic hooded sweatshirts and a one-off painted t-shirt, the hoodie has one of the most iconic illustrations by Brian Bolland from batman: The Killing Joke on its back… The inner hood has a balaclava with the Joker’s grinning mouth printed onto the front. The second hoodie paints a reflection of the Joker and features artwork by Jock, which was created for the cover of Detective Comics both Batman and Joker-inspired versions of the oversized fitting hoodie.
“DC was incredible in opening up the archives to me. It was an honour to look through the amazing illustrations and graphics that make up the history and evolution of Batman over the past eighty years. It was so difficult to choose, as there are so many iconic images of Batman.” – Marc Jacques Burton
