We’re given an insightful taste into the leading outerwear brand Berghaus’ interesting heritage that shows Berghaus paying homage to its beginnings and exploring the brands rich archive dating back to the 1980s. The collection titled ‘ Dean Street’ celebrates the original birthplace of Berghaus, capturing the true spirit of the brands humble roots before it became a globally recognised brand. The striking lookbook was shot by the immensely talented photographer, Rosie Matheson, and provides an attractive set of stills all captured in the streets of Newcastle. The Dean Street collection will see the re-release of classic pieces including The Windshirt ’90, a style integral to Berghaus’ history that has since been mimicked throughout fashion, embodying the feeling of nostalgia of past eras, the collection plays on the rave scenes of the 90s, Manchester Britpop and terrace culture with the styles incorporating logos and trims from each original piece.
Berghaus originally made its debut in 1966 in a mountaineering shop and now champions the forefront of outdoor innovation and is embraced by climbers and youth culture alike. All faces featured within the campaign live in Newcastle and were found during several street castings. Shot with real faces from Newcastle streets, the new Dean Street collection will see Berghaus bring back a selection of unisex styles from the brand’s 50+ year’s archive.
