Bangladeshi born, Queens-raised artist Anik Khan returns with a new single today, “Oh My,” launched by Zane Lowe, one week before he hits the road for a 2-city mini-tour.
Produced by Soulection’s own Sango, the single features Afro-Pop sensation Burna Boy, and brings South Asian, West African, and Caribbean cultures together with a soulful flourish. Anik and Burna trade poetic verses about love in metaphorical form, as their unique styles come together seamlessly. For Anik, the release of “Oh My” commemorates the one year anniversary of his breakout project Kites, a soundtrack to the NYC borough he grew up in and an ode to the family and loved ones who have supported him on his journey.

Since dropping Kites last April, Anik sold out Rough Trade in Brooklyn, toured the country on Jidenna’s Long Live The Chief Tour, and brought out roughly 400 people to the Apple Store in Soho for an advanced screening for the music video to Kites standout “Habibi.” Next week, Anik will be headlining Heineken’s Green Room series in Philadelphia on the 23rd (at World Cafe Live) and Brooklyn on the 24th (at Knitting Factory).
