Hailing from South London, UK electronic duo Vesce create the sort of music that stays with you – warm, affecting and impactful. Their subtle brand of electronic soul is in full bloom on their debut EP, ‘Self Edit‘.
A wash of emotive textures, each song on the group’s four-track collection is the result of a meticulous process; sampling and re-sampling live instrumental parts – gifting each note with a humanity rarely found in works of electronic music. ZENDER’s melancholic vocal chops recall classic R&B and gospel laid on a bed of ethereal synths and organic pianos, contrasting with the ominous low end and dynamic ebb-and-flow of ‘DSCVRY’. Taking a more percussive approach on ‘HERE 2 STAY’, the EP exhibits Vesce’s individual method of songwriting – eschewing conventional song structure to lead each track with emotion and creating a body of work that falls perfectly between meditative soundscape and R&B-focused triumph.
With their debut EP, Vesce have referenced the soulful grooves of icons before them and brought them firmly into the future. A heartfelt blend of textures, layers, low-end heavy patterns and unique songcraft, Vesce have created a collection of tracks that is rich with emotion, reflection, and built completely without boundary.
