After a two year hiatus, Red Bull Music Academy returns to Notting Hill Carnival with a brand new two-day offering. Kicking off with an open-to-all Sound System party on Sunday 27th August, Red Bull Music Academy will then collaborate with local masquerade band Mangrove to parade a bespoke carnival float on Monday 28th August.
RBMA SOUND SYSTEM – Sunday 27th August
In a world first, Jamaican dancehall star Spice and British rapper Stefflon Don will perform together whilst Mixpak boss Dre Skull, afrobeats trailblazers Belly Squad and AfroWave pioneer Afro B also join the line-up for this year’s newest carnival addition, the Red Bull Music Academy Sound System. Working hand-in-hand with London Notting Hill Carnival Trust, the party will be open to the public, taking over Emslie Horniman Pleasance park. Set to bring the sounds of the summer to the West London celebration, UK afrobeats and bashment come together, whilst a very special guest for the Sound System will drop in the coming weeks!
RBMA x MANGROVE – Monday 28th August
Red Bull Music Academy is proud to be supporting and collaborating with Mangrove, one of the most prominent and well-respected steel bands who have been participating in Carnival for well over 30 years. Working closely together, this year’s float will be unlike anything Notting Hill has seen before, ready to roll down the Carnival route come Monday 28th August. Trinidadian soca stars Bunji Garlin, Fay-Ann Lyons and Olatunji will be flying in to perform on-board to Mangrove’s masqueraders and the wider Notting Hill Mangrove community.
