Spring/Summer 2017 represents the second collection from new-to-market brand Darkdron. Born a year ago and named in homage to the Norwegian metal band Dark Throne, it presents a dystopian vision of a future where the drama of humans becomes a form of ecstasy.
Creatively directed by Giovanni Giacomo Forbice, the designer behind the radical shoe brand FORFEX who collaborated with HBA, Opening Ceremony and Terence Koh, Darkdron represents an expansion of his design vision. Giovanni was raised in Italy from a family with a history in fashion retail, he studied illustration, sculpture and industrial design in art school and these influences have given Darkdron it’s unique and individual handwriting.
The Spring/Summer 2017 collection “Unwelcome” takes references from Friday the 13th’s machete wielded mass murderer Jason, and the hardcore and at time freakish fans of The Insane Clown Posse – The Juggalos. Masked, alternative, extreme and anarchic they come together once a year for the infamous Gathering Of The Juggalos – a festival of horrorcore hip-hop and wrestling in a cultural mish-mash of clown make-up and Faygo juice spray.
